Campofiore Country House is characterized by the wonderful green landscapes that surround the structure, where the greenery and harmony of the countryside transmit serenity, peace and tranquility. We are located in the province of Padua, in Terranova, and a few kilometers from the structure there are many points of interest rich in history and tradition.
Pontelongo, Villa Foscarini Erizzo and the sugar factory
The town of Pontelongo is developed along the right and left bank of the Bacchiglione and owes its name to the bridge that connects the two banks. The town extends along the flat territory between Saccisica and Polesine with a notable historical tradition.
Among the historic buildings you can see Villa Foscarini Erizzo which was built at the time of the Serenissima Republic as a country residence and granary of the Foscarini family. The structure has a Classical-Baroque style with a central part and two barchesse on the sides, the complex is embellished with notable architecture and frescoes that still today are a testimony of the artistic history of Veneto.
A few steps from the city center and along the Bacchiglione you can see the historic sugar factory that since 1910 has produced sugar derived from sugar beet and grown in the surrounding countryside. To this day, “El Beljo”, so called because it was founded by the Belgians, remains the only active sugar factory in Veneto and, with its historical charm, continues to be a symbol of the cultural and industrial heritage of the area.
The Bacchiglione and the Saccisica
The countryside characterizes the area of Pontelongo and the Bacchiglione, which rises along the Vicenza Prealps and flows into the Venetian Lagoon, crosses this territory making the Venetian Po Valley fertile. The river favors the irrigation of the territories, facilitating cultivation and creating natural paths to travel by bike or on foot.
Surrounding the banks of the Bacchiglione, we find the Saccisica region which owes its name to the pockets of fertile land that distinguish it thanks to the watercourses present. Here the conformation of the soil and the presence of water favor the cultivation of fields making the landscape unique and characteristic: it is the typical landscape that marks the passage from the plain to the lagoon and is included in the UNESCO heritage site “Venice and its Lagoon”.
Venice and Chioggia, Padua, the Euganean Hills and the Thermal Basin
Veneto is a territory rich in history, culture and landscapes to be discovered and from Pontelongo you can quickly reach the sea or discover cities and wonders of the hinterland.
Venice is the destination par excellence that everyone dreams of visiting at least once in their life and with its streets, picturesque buildings and its lagoon it is one of the most visited UNESCO heritage sites in the world. If you want to discover “a smaller Venice”, Chioggia is the place to experience a seaside town, enjoy good fish and let yourself be lulled by the sea.
If you are looking for a destination linked to the plain, Padua is the city of the Saint that with Prato della Valle is characterized by being one of the largest and most evocative squares in Europe. Leaving the city you can admire the Euganean Hills that with their gentle slopes offer the possibility of discovering many wineries or spa areas.
